Why do so many emergency vehicles come to fires?

On the average structure fire it takes about 4 engines, 2 tankers, 1 rescue truck, and 1 ambulance.  Since we are volunteers our members might bring their own vehicle to the scene.  It takes a lot of people to control even the smallest fires.  The more firefighters we have on the scene, the safer it is.

What should I do if my house catches on fire?

The first thing to do is have an escape plan before a fire ever happens.  Everyone in the home should know how to get out of the house and where to meet if there is ever a fire.  You should leave your home immediately and call 911 from a neighbors house or cell phone.  You should never go back in for people, pets, or belongings.  Once you get out, Stay Out.  The fire department is trained to get people out of fires.
