Current funding needs:
New Fire Truck
Our current fire engine is 16 years old, and becoming increasingly costly to repair and operate. We can only carry 2 firefighters
to the scene, the national standard is to have 4 firefighters on each responding apparatus. A new fire engine will be able to carry up to 5 firefighters.
Adding another 1000 gallon fire engine will give us a total of 5000 gallons of water in Beach City, since we do not have fire hydrants.
A New fire truck will allow our firefighters to have all their protective clothing on when they arrive on th
e scene and have more critical time to put out fires and save lives. A new fire engine
is another tool used to lower our ISO rating, which in turn can lower fire insurance rates for the
City of Beach City and unincorporated areas that our fire departments serves.
THANK YOU CITY OF BEACH CITY FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE!
2. New Fire Station
We have outgrown our current station. Fire apparatus is having to sit outside in the weather elements. The Beach City area is growing rapidly and the fire department is forced to add new apparatus and equipment to keep up with demand. New equipment must have a place to be stored. A new station will mean that citizens will have an interactive environment to bring their children to tour and learn about fire safety. Firefighters will be able to have a larger training room to be able to learn more about keeping themselves and the community safe. A new station will be able to provide an Emergency Operations Center for the City of Beach City in the event of a natural disaster.
3. Training Needs
It takes a large amount of money to train each firefighter. Firefighter safety and the safety of the community is our primary concern. With more funding our firefighters will be able to attend more training at fire departments across the state and have state of the art training materials in Beach City. Training for firefighters is an ongoing process and never ends. Each firefighter is expecting to complete many hours of training each year.
4. NFPA Compliance
The NFPA mission is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by developing and advocating scientifically based consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education. NFPA serves as the world's leading advocate of fire prevention and is an authoritative source on public safety. NFPA codes and standards have helped save lives and protect property around the world. Beach City VFD is committed to following national standards for fire department operations to keep our firefighters safe. Implementing all of the NFPA recommendations are costly. Currently we are unable to have full compliance due to the costs of testing, equipment, and education needed for implementation.
